BOSTON – Nearly 600 lots of fine European furniture and decorative arts from the 17th through the early 20th centuries will be sold by Skinner, Inc. on July 14 in their gallery, including British and American silver and quality early Wedgwood from a prominent collection.

Early Georgian tableware and a strong selection of American Arts & Crafts silver from such noted silversmiths as Arthur Stone, Katherine Pratt, Porter Blanchard and Mary Catherine Knight will be featured among 200 lots of flatware and hollowware from the United States, England and Europe. Unique 19th century silver from Tiffany, Gorham and Durgin will also be sold.

Ninety pieces of early Wedgwood and 18th century English pottery from the Sam and Sara Laver collection will be sold. Featured among the “stars” of the sale will be a pair of Wedgwood & Bentley black basalt sugar dish vases and covers, a Wedgwood encaustic-decorated black basalt volute krater vase and a 21-inch Wedgwood black jasper dip campana-shaped vase on a stand.

In addition to the Laver Collection are numerous other offerings of Wedgwood and English pottery highlighted by several fine Wedgwood blue jasper and Fairyland Lustre items. Among the unique is a set of 11 Wilkinson commemorative toby jugs depicting World War I political and military leaders.

Furniture from the celebrated Parisian firms of the late 19th century/early 20th century will also be sold on July 14, in addition to works produced in the style of 18th century masters, such as Benneman, Weisweiler and Cressent.

Fine furniture from E. Kahn & Cie and Maison Miller, each competing against each other while winning medals in the international exhibitions of the era, will be highlights of the sale. A Maison Millet desk and an E. Kahn & Cie clock are particularly noteworthy, displaying well-cast ormolu mounts as well as sophisticated use of exceptional veneers.

The sale will also feature an assortment of decorative sculpture, artwork, Oriental rugs and Louis Vuitton luggage.
