Iron and trivet collectors ‘press’ on to Evansville
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Pressing Iron and Trivet Collectors of America (PITCA) will hold its 26th annual convention at the Casino Aztar Hotel on Aug. 6 and 7, where collectors across the country and from abroad are expected to gather.

The convention this year will have three renowned authors in attendance, David Irons, Lynn Rosack and Jay Raymond.

A full week of activities are planned prior to the convention, including a visit to a World War II war ship, shopping excursions and a baseball game at Bosse Field, one of the oldest baseball fields in the United States.

One of the highlights of the week will occur on the preceding days – Aug. 4-5 – the sale of 1,000 irons from the collections of Mr. and Mrs. Buck Carson and Mr. and Mrs. David Irons. The auction will be conducted by Simmons and Company Auctions from Kansas City, Mo., and will be hosted online by Live Proxibid.com.

The club was founded in July 1984 in Owatonna, Minn., exclusively to foster more research and interest in Sad Irons and related items. It currently lists as members more than 300 families, with members from 42 states, Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Spain, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Romania.

"Whether you have a collection of nine, 90 or 900 irons, you too can share in the fellowship when club members meet at the annual convention to exchange information about their common hobby as well as buy, sell and trade irons, trivets and other laundry-related items," says Jerry Marcus, the club’s secretary-treasurer.
