Advertising collectors will meet in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Antique Advertising Association of America (AAAA) will hold its annual convention July 16-18 at the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza in Louisville.

For the first time, members of The Nabisco Club will join the AAAA for their annual event. The convention is for collectors of antique and popular advertising and will include members from across the U.S. and Canada.

According to AAAA’s president, Dale Larson, “The convention program will include plenty of opportunities for attendees to buy, sell or trade for those special hard-to-find collectible advertising pieces.” Highlights of the convention include several educational seminars, two auctions, a favorite advertising room display of members special pieces, and a hospitality party. Other events of interest are outings to The Schmidt Museum of

Coca-Cola Memorabilia in Elizabethtown, Ky., the Schimpff’s Confectionery Store and Museum in Jeffersonville, Ind., or a visit to enjoy some local collector’s homes on Wednesday on the day before the convention officially starts.

“AAAA members are really enthusiastic about this year’s convention, “ says Larson. “Their excitement reflects the continuing growth in the hobby and a chance to meet new member collectors and renew old friendships.”

Most activities are for members only, however, the public is invited to visit from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on July 16 and 7 to 9 p.m. on July 17.

The AAAA is the oldest organization dedicated to collectors of antique and popular advertising. Dues (still only $35 a year/U.S., $45/Canadian and $55/foreign), include PastTimes, a highly acclaimed full color newsletter published four times a year. Each issue features a different form of advertising with hundreds of full color photos. The publication lists “sale and wanted” ads and auctions, shows and other pertinent information for the collector. Most back issues from the past 15-plus years of the publication are available.
